About World Maritime Day

Every year the International Maritime Organization (IMO) celebrates World Maritime Day. The exact date is left to individual governments but is usually celebrated during the last week in September. The day is used to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security and the marine environment and to emphasize a particular aspect of IMO's work.

Conference Themes
Workshop Focus for Educators, Industry, Administrators .
The conference workshops have been arranged in three (A,B,C) streams to allow individuals to attend all of the workshops most appropriate to one of the three conference themes.

A) EDUCATORS: K-12 Marine/Maritime School development  programs, academic outcomes and issues
 
B) INDUSTRY: 21st Century workforce, issues, solutions, connecting with marine/maritime secondary and post secondary schools creating partnerships "Ladders to Opportunity"
 
C) ADMINISTRATORS:  Obstacles to school completion and maritime/marine employment, how you can help.

The hotel rate $145 for a single and $190 for a double. The rate includes breakfast and dinner the night of check in.
